Welcome to YT93

Performing Arts - Producing Excellence for over 21 years

For over 21 years YT93 Performing Arts Academy has been helping children in Kent and East Sussex develop their interest and talent in theatre through dance, drama or singing, with our varied and exciting classes.
The academy also operates during the Easter and Summer holidays with workshops through to performance for students aged 5 – 16.

We specialise in Jazz and modern dance, theatre dance that includes tap and ballet where appropriate, and fifty minutes each of drama and singing, all within small classes. We can also offer one on one tuition.

As part of our commitment to the education process, we have a full exam structure and also organise trips to see local and national shows, which occasionally include cast workshops and backstage tours or visiting guest speakers to classes. We can also help support Scholarship applications.

We hope you find this site informative and interesting, but nothing beats experiencing the academy first hand. Get in touch with me and we'll arrange a taster session!

Classes are lead by a professional musical tutor and aim to increase the flexibility of the vocal chords, develop basic musical reading and improve articulation and projection while maintaining good technique. The small groups allow most children to have solo or featured roles if they wish and integration into the other disciplines are actively encouraged. Solo lessons are offered with tutors if a student would benefit from one to one tuition and music theory, exams and festivals are actively encouraged if interest is shown by students in class.

From Street and Urban Dance to Contemporary Jazz and Tap classes offer a wide-ranging appreciation of dance styles.

Alongside this technical training students develop their creative skills through choreography and improvisational classes and workshops. Such training is then further integrated into musical theatre appreciation and performance.

AISTD and IDTA examinations are offered to those who wish to partake in Freestyle Jazz Tap and Musical Theatre Dance.

Future Thespians will have the opportunity to learn how to select, develop and refine their ideas for original theatre into performance. They will experiment through play/theatre games and physicality to develop skills in this area.

Examinations with Trinity College London are offered in drama, speech and Musical Theatre, the upper grades contributing to the UCAS point system.

All students are invited to perform throughout the year both for professional productions and Academy Showcases.

One to one and group classes offered in speech drama and musical theatre.

Following Trinity College London's exam syllabus and The London Academy of Music and Dramatic Art (LAMDA) students can choose to enter examinations individually, as part of a duo, or group. You do not have to be a week end member of YT to apply.

Classes offer self confidence and improved speech along with specialist audition and scholarship support including references.
